Terms of Service & Acceptable Use Policy
Last Updated: March 27, 2026
Welcome to ArmorDNS. By accessing or using ArmorDNS services (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
ArmorDNS is operated by ArmorDNS, LLC, a Colorado limited liability company (“ArmorDNS,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
1. Description of Service
ArmorDNS provides DNS-based content filtering, threat protection, and related security services designed to help individuals, families, and organizations manage and filter internet traffic.
The Service operates by intercepting and resolving domain name requests. ArmorDNS does not inspect encrypted content beyond domain resolution and does not guarantee complete protection from harmful content or threats.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Devices managed under an account may be used by minors under the supervision of the account holder.
You are responsible for all activity conducted through your account, including activity on all devices registered to your account regardless of who uses them.
3. Account Holder and Device Users
The account holder is the individual who creates the ArmorDNS account and is the sole contracting party to these Terms. Device users (including family members, children, and other household members) are not separate parties to this agreement.
The account holder is responsible for:
- Configuring filtering profiles for all devices on the account
- Ensuring filtering settings are appropriate for each device user
- Informing device users that their DNS query activity is visible to the account holder through the dashboard
- Supervising minors and making age-appropriate filtering decisions
ArmorDNS is designed to be used as a parental and family accountability tool, not a covert surveillance tool. We encourage account holders to have open conversations with household members about internet safety and filtering.
4. No Guarantee of Security or Availability
ArmorDNS is a best-effort security service. You acknowledge and agree:
- No filtering system is perfect.
- The Service may block legitimate content (“false positives”).
- The Service may fail to block harmful content (“false negatives”).
- The Service may experience downtime, latency, or interruptions.
- Internet threats evolve constantly.
DNS filtering does not protect against all internet threats. Content accessed through VPNs, web proxies, or encrypted channels may bypass DNS-level filtering.
ArmorDNS does not guarantee:
- Continuous availability
- Error-free operation
- Complete protection from harmful content
- Compatibility with all networks or devices
The Service is not a substitute for direct supervision of minors. Use of the Service is at your own risk.
5. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Maintain accurate account information
- Secure your credentials and devices
- Use the Service only for lawful purposes
- Monitor and supervise minors as appropriate
- Configure your devices correctly
- Inform household members that DNS activity is logged and visible to the account holder
You remain fully responsible for your internet usage and decisions regardless of ArmorDNS filtering.
6. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Distribute malware, phishing, or harmful content
- Attempt unauthorized access to systems or networks
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service
- Attempt to bypass or circumvent filtering mechanisms applied to devices you do not have authority to manage, or assist others in doing so
- Conduct automated abuse, scanning, or attacks against ArmorDNS infrastructure
- Resell the Service without authorization
- Generate excessive traffic intended to degrade performance
- Use the Service for illegal surveillance or monitoring of individuals who have not been informed
- Engage in activities that expose ArmorDNS to regulatory enforcement actions
ArmorDNS reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy.
7. Network Abuse & Security Protection
ArmorDNS implements rate limits, dynamic blocking, and other protective measures to maintain system stability and security.
We may suspend or terminate access without notice if we believe activity threatens the integrity of the Service or other users.
8. DNS Query Logging & Data Retention
ArmorDNS logs DNS queries associated with your account for the purpose of providing filtering analytics, troubleshooting, and the dashboard query log feature.
Query log data retention:
- Individual DNS query logs are retained for 24 hours and automatically deleted.
- Cumulative statistics (total blocked and allowed counts) are retained for the duration of your account.
- Audit logs of account actions are retained for 90 days.
ArmorDNS does not sell, share, or monetize DNS query data. Query logs are accessible only to the account holder and ArmorDNS administrators for troubleshooting purposes.
ArmorDNS may preserve data beyond normal retention periods when required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of ArmorDNS and its users.
9. Legal Process & Law Enforcement
ArmorDNS may disclose account information and preserved data in response to valid legal process, including subpoenas, court orders, and search warrants issued by U.S. federal or state courts of competent jurisdiction. ArmorDNS does not respond to foreign legal process unless required by applicable U.S. law or treaty.
ArmorDNS may preserve data beyond normal retention periods when required by law or upon receipt of a valid legal preservation request. Data that has already been deleted under our normal 24-hour retention policy cannot be recovered or produced.
ArmorDNS will comply with applicable law regarding notification to affected users unless prohibited by court order or applicable law.
Transparency: ArmorDNS will publish an annual transparency report disclosing the number of legal requests received, even if the number is zero. This report will not include information that could identify individual users or that is prohibited from disclosure by law.
10. Payments & Subscriptions
If you purchase a subscription:
- Fees are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis.
- Prices may change with 30 days' notice.
- Failure to pay may result in suspension of filtering services.
Free trials: Free trials begin at account creation and last 14 days. No credit card is required to start a trial. If you do not subscribe before the trial expires, filtering will be suspended. Your account and configuration will be retained for 30 days after trial expiration.
Failed payments: If a payment fails, you will receive a notification and a 7-day grace period to update your payment method. Reminders are sent at days 1, 3, and 6. After the grace period, filtering will be suspended until payment is resolved.
Refund policy: If you are unsatisfied within the first 30 days of a paid subscription, contact us at support@armordns.com for a full refund. After 30 days, payments are non-refundable except where required by law.
Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through the customer billing portal. For monthly plans, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. For annual plans, a prorated credit for unused time is applied to your account when you delete your account. Contact support@armordns.com to request a refund of any remaining credit.
11. Free DNS Resolution Services
ArmorDNS may offer limited free DNS resolution services (such as the public resolver at dns.armordns.com). Free services are provided as-is with no guarantee of availability, performance, or filtering. ArmorDNS reserves the right to modify, rate-limit, or discontinue free services at any time without notice.
12. Children's Privacy
ArmorDNS accounts are managed by adults (18+). Devices managed under an account may be used by minors.
ArmorDNS does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All account management, configuration, and data access is performed by the account holder. DNS queries from devices used by minors are logged under the account holder's account and subject to the same 24-hour retention policy. ArmorDNS does not create profiles of individual minors, does not associate DNS queries with the identity of a specific minor child, and does not use minor-generated query data for any purpose other than providing the filtering service to the account holder.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to ArmorDNS directly, please contact us at support@armordns.com and we will promptly delete it.
13. Intellectual Property
All software, systems, branding, and content associated with ArmorDNS remain the property of ArmorDNS, LLC.
You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for the duration of your subscription or trial period.
14. Privacy
Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy.
ArmorDNS does not sell personal data. ArmorDNS does not display advertising. DNS query data is not shared with third parties except as required by law.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ArmorDNS shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Loss of data
- Loss of profits
- Business interruption
- Personal injury
- Emotional distress
- Exposure to harmful content despite filtering being active
- Security incidents or breaches
- Network failures or DNS resolution errors
- False positives (legitimate sites blocked) or false negatives (harmful sites not blocked)
ArmorDNS's total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount paid for the Service in the preceding twelve (12) months.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or willful misconduct.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases liability is limited to the minimum allowed by law.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ArmorDNS, LLC, its owners, members, employees, agents, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the Service
- Violation of these Terms
- Violation of laws or third-party rights
- Content accessed through your network regardless of filtering status
- Actions of any user on devices registered to your account
- Configuration, deployment, or filtering decisions you make
This indemnification obligation does not apply to claims arising solely from ArmorDNS's own negligence, willful misconduct, or failure to perform obligations under these Terms.
17. Service Modifications & Termination
ArmorDNS may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes.
We may terminate accounts for violations of these Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, or abuse of the Service.
You may cancel your account at any time. Upon cancellation, your account data will be deleted within 30 days. DNS query logs are deleted automatically within 24 hours of generation regardless of account status. Deleted data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before being automatically overwritten.
Data export: Before deleting your account, you may export your account configuration data (device list, category settings, custom rules, and query logs) through the dashboard. ArmorDNS cannot recover data after deletion.
18. Third-Party Dependencies
ArmorDNS relies on external infrastructure providers, threat intelligence feeds, domain blocklist maintainers, and network services.
We are not responsible for failures, inaccuracies, or service disruptions caused by third parties, including but not limited to false positives originating from third-party threat intelligence feeds.
19. Service Level Expectation
ArmorDNS targets high availability but does not guarantee specific uptime percentages. DNS resolution is a critical service and we treat availability with the highest priority.
We monitor service health continuously and maintain redundant infrastructure to minimize disruptions.
20. Emergency & Critical Systems Disclaimer
The Service is not designed for and must not be used with:
- Medical systems or healthcare infrastructure
- Emergency services (911, first responders)
- Life-critical infrastructure
- Aviation or transportation control systems
- Industrial control systems (SCADA/ICS)
- Military operations or classified systems
- School networks as a sole content filtering solution
- Childcare facilities as a sole safeguarding measure
You agree not to rely on the Service for life-critical functions. The Service is not a substitute for direct supervision of minors or for enterprise-grade network security solutions.
21. Export & Compliance
You agree to comply with all applicable export control laws and regulations. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to U.S. embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
22. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
23. Dispute Resolution
Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration shall take place in the State of Colorado, except where prohibited by law.
A single arbitrator shall be selected in accordance with the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules. For claims under $10,000, ArmorDNS will pay all AAA filing fees and arbitrator compensation. For claims of $10,000 or more, fees shall be allocated as provided by the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules.
The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.
You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted on an individual basis and not as part of a class action. Some states do not enforce class action waivers in certain consumer contexts; in those jurisdictions, this class action waiver may not apply to you.
24. Changes to Terms
ArmorDNS may update these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email to the address associated with your account.
Continued use of the Service after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to updated Terms, you may cancel your account.
