Built by a dad who got tired of half-measures
ArmorDNS is a small, independent DNS-filtering service. It exists because the tools already on the market either only worked at home, only worked on one browser, only worked on one device, or asked for a monthly bill per family member. None of them covered the whole family, on every network, without becoming its own project to maintain.
Who builds this
I'm Geoff Tidd — a father, a cybersecurity professional in Colorado, and a Christian. I built ArmorDNS after realizing no single tool covered the gap I wanted covered for my own family: block harmful content at the DNS layer, on every device, everywhere those devices go — not just when they're on the home Wi-Fi.

Why DNS filtering, and not another app
Most family-safety tools ask you to install an app on every device. Kids find ways around apps. Devices break. Updates get skipped. And you still have to remember to install it on the next tablet, the next phone, the next laptop.
DNS filtering happens one layer up. Every device that connects to the internet asks a DNS server “where is this website?” before it can load anything. If ArmorDNS is the answer, we get to decide whether the question ever turns into a connection. No app. No agent. Just the setting that's already built into every modern phone, tablet, laptop, and router.
The tradeoff is honest: DNS filtering can't block ads inside YouTube or Facebook, because those come from the same domain as the app itself. For that, a browser extension is a good complement. Everything else — third-party ads, trackers, malware, adult content, phishing — never loads at all.
How the service is run
- Two DNS servers, two data centers. The DNS resolvers run in San Francisco and San Jose. If one goes down, the other still answers — your devices don't notice.
- DNSSEC-validated and encrypted. All queries use DNS-over-TLS or DNS-over-HTTPS, so nothing between your device and ArmorDNS can read or tamper with them.
- 7-day query retention, then purged. Your dashboard shows what happened in the last week. After that, the raw log is deleted. No advertisers, no data brokers, no third parties.
- 625K+ ad and tracker domains, 1.3M+ malware domains, 610K+ adult domains. Blocklists are updated continuously from a mix of open threat feeds and hand-curated categories.
- Priced for families, not per seat. One flat family price. Covers up to 25 devices in the household — phones, tablets, laptops, TVs, and the router itself.
Where the mission comes from
The name is a reference to the Armor of God described in Ephesians 6 — the call to stand firm against the schemes that target our families. I'm building this because I want my own kids to grow up in a house where the internet isn't quietly working against them.
